Necromancer Soulwrest Phantasm Build
- Class: Witch
- Ascendancy: Necromancer
- Build by MasterT
- Patch 3.29
MasterT's Physical Soulwrest Necromancer is a Witch Necromancer whose damage comes from phantasms, minions that fire piercing projectile spells dealing physical damage. Soulwrest triggers a level 25 Summon Phantasm skill every time you consume a corpse, so the build revolves around eating corpses quickly: you channel Cyclone linked to Cast while Channelling Support, which keeps casting Desecrate to make corpses and Spirit Offering to use them up. A level 21 Summon Phantasm Support socketed in the staff brings its own phantasm limit on top of the staff's, which MasterT puts at roughly 22 phantasms in all.
It is a league starter that asks for very little, gets going on cheap gear and keeps getting stronger through a clear order of upgrades. Soulwrest is a common unique, and since the phantasm skill comes from the staff itself, whatever supports sit in its six sockets work on the phantasms, so you never chase a six-link body armour for the main skill. You carry two Soulwrests, one socketed for single target and one for clearing, and switch with the weapon swap key; the phantasms stay out when you swap. MasterT picked physical over poison for league start: physical damage is boosted by your curses, by Pride and by the Blood Stance of Flesh and Stone, and the critical strikes from Fresh Meat Support add to it, all without the gear-dependent jewels a poison version would need.
For 3.29 MasterT moved the build to Chaos Inoculation with energy shield leech and instant leech, and added a new ring craft that he says lifts endgame damage a lot. Soulwrest cannot be equipped before level 60, so the campaign is played with other minions, Raging Spirits first and then a permanent skeleton warrior from Alberon's Warpath, and the staff comes in at the end of the campaign. MasterT offers no mirror-tier or Mageblood version; he presents this as a cheap starter and suggests rerolling into a different build later on.
